In New York haben sie anscheinend eine Preview-Version der Verfilmung von Cormac McCarthy’s “The Road” gezeigt. Einer, der da war, hat eine Rezension geschrieben.

Das Buch ist einer der beeindruckendsten Romane, die ich je gelesen habe. Tut euch den Gefallen und kauft ihn auf Englisch. Kostet keine 10 Euro im gutsortierten Buchhandel.

[Update]In den USA sollte der Film am 14. November in die Kinos kommen, anscheinend ist das aber noch fraglich.

Sneak preview mit “Schmitti” als Vorprogramm. Die Karten hatte ich beim Sparrenblog gewonnen. Ich weiß, geschenkter Gaul und so. Aber das war dann trotzdem sicherlich das einzige Mal, dass ich dieser Veranstaltung beiwohne. Ein leger gekleideter Herr, der mit Polenwitzen und Unter-der-Gürtellinie-Zoten beim überwiegend studentischen Publikum punktet? Und das eine geschlagene Stunde lang? Thanks, but no thanks.
Wenigstens war der Film gut.

Nämlich einen richtig guten Film in guter Qualität ins Internet gebracht:

Und das auch noch wahlweise mit türkischen Untertiteln. Da zahl ich doch gerne meine Rundfunkgebühren. Wenn einem nur nicht ständig dieses unsägliche Inkasso-Büro (aka GEZ) auf den Wecker fallen würde…

Ich hab den Film ja auf DVD, aber vom sportlichen Aspekt her wurmt es mich doch, dass ich es bisher nicht geschafft habe, den Stream vom NDR auf der Platte zu sichern (für späteres offline-viewing oder zum Brennen)…

Klar, der Film schmeisst in bewährter amerikanisch-grosskotziger Manier mit Superlativen nur so um sich, man könnte das Ganze auch als pure Beweihräucherung der mittlerweile ergrauten Herren auffassen. Wären da nicht die mitreißenden Live-Aufnahmen der alten Kracher mit bekannten Stimmen wie Chaka Khan, Ben Harper, Bootsy Collins und der unvergleichlichen Me’Shell NdegéOcello. Klar, ich bin praktisch seit Kindertagen ein Fan dieser Musik (genaugenommen, seit meine Eltern damals “Motown Chartbusters” in heavy rotation hatten, die mit den Zigaretten auf dem Cover) und deswegen voreingenommen. Aber hey, ich finde eben auch, dass “Ain’t no mountain high enough” der beste Song aller Zeiten ist (dicht gefolgt von “What’s goin’ on”, hallo Nick!)…
